Unlock Confidence with the Celette Cameleon Universal Fixturing System

Introduction

Last week, our state‑of‑the‑art training facility buzzed with excitement as a group of passionate autobody technicians came together to deepen their skills on the Celette Cameleon Universal Fixturing System. Led by Robert Gargaro, Training Development Manager at Area22, this immersive one‑day course was designed to build foundational knowledge and hands‑on confidence for every participant.

1. Laying the Groundwork: Crossmember (Beam) Setup

We kicked off the day with the basics: correctly positioning and securing the crossmembers on the frame rack. This critical first step guarantees a stable, accurate base for all subsequent repair operations. By carefully aligning the beams and verifying their level, students learn to avoid costly re‑work and ensure precision from the very start.

2. Exploring Core Components: MZ Towers & MZ Plus Pistons

Next, we delved into the heart of the Cameleon system: the MZ towers and MZ Plus pistons. Participants examined each component’s design, discussed load‑bearing capabilities, and practiced mounting different fixtures. This module highlighted how these versatile elements combine for targeted pulling and feature repair across a very wide range of vehicles.

3. Precision Repair with the Side Gantry

A cornerstone of the course was the side gantry setup. This specialized tool enables technicians to locate and restore lateral damage with pinpoint accuracy. Students followed a step‑by‑step protocol: positioning the gantry, calibrating reference points, and executing controlled pulls. By the end of the session, every attendee could confidently leverage the gantry in live repair scenarios.

4. Mastering the Cameleon System as a Whole

With individual modules complete, we shifted to integrated exercises—combining crossmember setup, MZ components, and gantry use into seamless repair workflows. Under guided supervision, students tackled simulated collision damage, applying best practices for fixture placement, pull direction, and measurement verification. This immersive approach cemented their understanding and promoted muscle‑memory proficiency.

5. Celebrating Student Progress & Ensuring Ongoing Support

What truly stood out was the transformation in each participant. From tentative first steps to confident fixture placements, the group’s progress was palpable. We wrapped up with a Q&A session, reinforcing troubleshooting strategies and resource tips. Robert also emphasized that post‑course support remains available—students can reach out any time for guidance as they apply these techniques on the job.
